Pastor Dupes Window Deceptively Collect Late Husband Gratuity

Franklin Chinedu pleaded not guilty, when he was brought before Magistrate Akeem Fashola. He was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was remanded in prison pending when he meets his bail conditions.
The pastor attached to the Mountain of Fire Ministry, Oshodi district, Lagos, was arrested for duping a widow of her husband's gratuity and leaving her to starve.

Pastor Franklin Chinedu, had deceived the widow, Charity Onje Isaac, through a false prophecy he had made to her. He had reportedly asked her to bring him some money as that was 'God's directive'. Charity lost the N850,000 she had received as her late husband's gratuity, from the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). She had taken the money to the pastor, only for him to dupe her.

Charity only realised she had been duped when she got to Pastor Chinedu's house to discover that he had relocated from the place.

She claims that Chinedu had earlier prophesied to her concerning her husband's death and the gratuity she was to receive from his employers. He had asked her to come for special prayers that would ensure that FAAN would release her husband's money to her.

He even went as far as asking her to give him the money once she got it, because 'God said so'. According to Charity, she didn't realise what had happened till she noticed she could no longer afford to feed her family. This prompted her decision to go in search of Pastor Chinedu.

After reporting the matter to the church, Chinedu said he had actually borrowed the money from Charity, but had been unable to raise the money to repay her.
