Bad Leader Good Man Jonathan - K Jinadu

I cannot help but give Goodluck Jonathan some credit for being so honest, humble yet above all very fair.  This man proved me so wrong, I was right in assuming Buhari will win but was wrong on who INEC declares winner in fact am chewing my words, judging from his predecessors
they would rig and hold on to power at all cost; go for second term even try third term but he decided to opt out and let the masses decided and chose their leader, robbing them of their vote was not an option he said it and kept to his world.

I must confess Nigeria politician has taught me not to believe a word that comes out of their mouth because they hardly keep to it.   Goodluck Jonathan was in the position to manipulate and influence the outcome of the election results to favour him but he acted otherwise, this is a leapt in Nigeria democracy.

Leaders specifically “president” in Nigeria are mini-gods, they call the shot and they are way above the law.

Jonathan could easily dip his hand in the national treasury and offer the INEC chairman a grand bribe he could never reject.

Those who surrounded and benefited legally or illegally wanted Jonathan to remain in power at all cost, at the expense of the progress of Nigeria, at the expense  of Boko Haram perpetual killing, at the continuance abduction of the Chibok girls, at the rate of high unemployment, even with corruption at its maximum.

I’ve said it before to say this people are wicked, selfish, greedy and unreasonable is an understatement.

People died even at some polling station, just for the progress of Nigeria, diligent employees innocently carrying out their daily duties looking forward to going home to meet immediate family were brutally murdered.

In some states people and women were banned from voting for no just cause, these enemies of progress did everything they could to stop the election from being a peaceful one, bomb exploded in Enugu on Election Day.

They were packaging foodstuff all in the name of Jonathan and sending it to the most vulnerable just to solicit for last minute votes, would be kind if the gesture could somehow be made permanent or if a source could consistently provide for the poor but their action was temporary.

I don’t believe these assailants were sent by Jonathan, I strongly believe most were agent and beneficial supporters of Jonathan, he did not send them, they were doing it for their own cause, So Jonathan could remain in power and they will continue to gain from his wing while other attackers might also have been from the opposition party.

Jonathan lacks the quality of leadership Nigeria needs as I’ve once mentioned in my previous article (Lord Of The Greed's) but he is a good man, Must admit I was one of the doubting Thomas; I know Buhari would win if it’s fair but I never believe Jonathan will humbly and unquestionably hand over and accept defeat as promise; is the first time the opposition has voted a government out of power in Nigeria‘s history and Goodluck Jonathan would become a relevant part of Nigeria history.

Buhari’s experience is also a lesson, to be persistent, to persevere, do not relent until you achieve what you passionately want, he’s attempted to be president for over a decade and he kept losing, he did not give up but he continued to strive and aim for his presidential ambition, I must say determination is key, DON’T GIVE UP, age is no barrier even though I still think there are better presidential candidate in Nigeria.

If Buhari would perform as promised is a debatable subject but one aspect he will surely carry out is that of discipline, Nigerians at the moment needs discipline we lack it at all level, he might tackle corruption to a manageable level because right now it’s really out of control.

President Ebele Goodluck Jonathan left the presidential office gracefully, with a good heart and his dignity intact.  He is a true Nigerian, a man of his word, may the good Lord continue to increase him in wisdom, may God continue to use him in his divine appointed area.

  1. You are absolutely right. GEJ may not be a great leader but he is sure a good man and just as I posted on my bbm update, He deserves to be celebrated as a hero of democracy for leaving gracefully and conceding to defeat. And for every Nigerian who has been singing the song of change and chanting it all over the internet, we should realize that change begins with ourselves and not just the leadership. Nigeria is the people and not just the leader, if the leader is good and the followers are bad, we have a problem in our hands. We are largely a product of the last dispensation and unless we are ready to change our mindset and thought-patterns, we may not experience that change we are clamouring for. My prayer however is: May we experience the change we so desire as we yield ourselves to the process of transformation, first within and then without. Amen.
